Bonaventure of Thornton

My loved one, has no complaints about the food, and really enjoys the activities. It's expensive but other places cost more but they do a lot. The staff is wonderful. I truly enjoy bonaventure, and so does my loved one.

Food is terrible and service in restaurant is just as bad. For the price that parents pay they should get what was promised in the walk through. 5k is enough for good food and service.

I toured Bonaventure of Thornton. It was nicer, such as the parking lot was recently paved and had plenty of parking. Very close to shopping. Extremely large rooms, at least in the two- bedroom category. We saw two, a small, and a large two-bedroom. They were both very generous. I didn't expect a walk-in closet. I didn't expect to see the big bathrooms. It was over a thousand square feet. So it was just very generous. And because it's an independent living, there was a range, and a full-size refrigerator, which I don't think is typical in assisted living. So there was plenty of light, and to my surprise, the carpeting is utterly replaced when a resident moves out before a new one moves in, and new paint is applied to the walls. And then I found out, there's a community charge, a one-time $5,000 charge, and that's what that covers. On the upside, you get a new unit for every resident. On the downside, that's a hefty fee. But it was very professionally run. They were expecting us. We had a very nice tour by Brook. They had even more amenities and choices, such as the hair salon that is open three days a week. They had a large range of activities, and as you would expect they had a nicer theater area for movies, including a standing popcorn machine. Just kind of more upscale. But I think the prices reflect that upscaleness. Friendly staff and I would say competent. They seemed very competent, it was just a one-hour tour, but that was my impression. Very clean. They would not let us look at the kitchen at all. And the reason is regulations. And I thought that was a good thing. So we enjoyed the tour. There was no delineation between independent living and assisted living in the fact that one wing, one aisle was assisted, and the other was independent, but you couldn't tell the difference. And I thought that was nice. You want people to mix. I saw a sample of the food. It wasn't during meal time, but they had a sample in the window for that day and I thought that was nice.

This place is the one they warn you about. This is NOT a nice place to live! Here are just a few things they did: my grandmother is severely allergic to shrimp and its all over her medical records. Bonaventure brought a bowl of steaming SHRIMP fettuccini to her om for dinner! Luckily she realized it before taking a bite! They run out of medication routinely and tell the patients there''s nothing they can do. It takes 45 minutes to an hour sometimes for help to respond. Nothing is cooked fresh in the kitchen, it is all store-bought frozen food dishes. They also mix Mexican beans and rice with other dishes like potato salad and pasta! Nothing is healthy or fresh. The staff is overworked but they also sneak out at night to sit in their cars on their phones and they take to-go containers of food from the kitchen. The management cares more about parking than they do about any of the above issues. DO NO LET YOUR LOVED ONES LIVE HERE!!!!

Ridiculous”Leadership” promise this and promise that. Don’t I repeat don’t take your loved once here unless you’re ok with them having 1 caregiver per shift for 60+ residents.
