I recently visited my parents over a one month period and often ate in the dining room at a cost of $10.00 each meal. The soups and salads are actually OK. Daily lunch offerings are hamburgers and hot dogs and just one entree. The vegetables are not fresh. Meats are of a cheap frozen variety. One evening I ordered a pork chop with a mustard sauce. The "pork" appeared to be ground up and fashioned into the shape of a boneless pork chop with yellow mustard as the sauce. Fish is never fresh and is pre-made with a breading of some sort. Tater tots are served instead of potatoes. One major complaint of residents is that there is too much breading on the food. This type of food is neither healthy or nutritious. I ordered an egg salad sandwich for dinner, which was so awful I could not eat it. The egg salad was obviously made offsite somewhere and most likely came in a plastic bag. The "chef" then put it on stale and tasteless bread. To suggest that there is an actual chef preparing the food is comical. Residents must also wait long periods to get served as there is a chronic staffing problem. I would seriously question any positive reviews of the food. It is unfortunate that the owner of Riverview cares so little for the residents that what should be the highlight of their day, is anything but. I could go on, but there is probably a limit to the number of characters.
