Friendly, responsive, very nice, comfortable, clean environment. Some CNAs are extraordinary, fantastic, caring people. I count on them and am always happy when they are on shift. Meals have good variety and although not always best in quality, they surpass institutional standards. A shout out to Ellie and Roslynn. They exemplify the excellence you are trying to achieve!

The food, the cooks, the dining room staff are all fantastic and consistent. Some staff really seem to go out of their way to take time for the residents. Management and staffs willingness to engage with family members to discuss issues both good and bad.

Friendly, courteous atmosphere. Good food usually well seasoned (not tasteless) Resident feels comfortable and more relaxed in this environment.. Provide a non denominational church service once a week. Could be any day of the week 20-30 minutes max length.

Cooking is good Generally DON does follow up on medical needs. There should be two CNAs per shift for saftey needs. The resident needs to speak directly at times and not have to talk a long time going through 'Channels'

More family activities/parties/meetings. Share meals with preschoolers and children with disabilities. NEVER NEVER USE THIS SURVEY COMPANY NEVER!. Use iPads and technologies available to help residents watch videos of family members and persons they care about. iPods for music therapy. Listen, empathize, and try to address needs. Follow up more with residents and their family members on specific concerns. Maybe keep a record of concerns and how they were addressed. Hire cleaning and laundry personnel so that CNAs can concentrate on caring for the residents.. I feel that the quarterly parties/dinners are a lot of work for the staff and management. This takes away valuable time from the residents. I see no benefit in having these parties/dinners. It would also cut down on the meetings...Just being honest! Put the residents FIRST on a daily basis. Party planning is stressful! The residents SUFFER. The staff is already gone enough with meetings, conferences, etc., etc...it is so discouraging for the residents and their families. I hear this so much. All of Americare needs to listen.

You bring life and energy to the facility. I feel that everyone knows my loved one, likes and dislikes and is an active participant in their care. We are pleased with the new level of activity being provided! Keep it up and thank you. Joan is a wonderful cook and the food is delicious. I feel safety is at the top of your list - thank you! The caring nature of your staff is undeniable and so important. I do not feel mistreatment would have an opportunity to occur there.. Communication and follow through. I feel that my needs and requests are initially responded to quite well. Action is immediate, however, the follow through to continue the accommodation is very spotty. I don't feel that shifts communicate well with one another and am unsure that the communication between the director of nursing and nurses/attendants is consistent. I believe turnover has been rather high and specific information not transferred to new staff. Overall cleanliness is satisfactory, however, the private bathroom and linens are generally not as clean as I would prefer. I do understand that the nature of the best friends approach dictates that a resident is treated as if they were in their own home and they are not forced to do anything other than taking medication. However . I feel that there is perhaps some middle ground where making sure the resident's personal hygiene is attended to

All the staff are great but several of the staff seem to go above and beyond even more so than the others The small size of the community Listening to and engaging with the families to resolve issues and to provide feedback, both positive and negative The meals. Have a laundry process that allows all of the residents clothes to be returned without being misplaced simply have the same person who retrieves the laundry be the same person who washes it and returns it to the residents room Increase the number of staff especially at night when residents are frequently left without proper supervision in the common area for extended periods two staff are not enough Assist residents with personal hygiene activities more often (brushing teeth, hand washing, etc) USE THE LIFE STORY We spent a lot of time and effort to provide as much information and detail for our loved one as encouraged by the staff but have seen very little if any of it actually used. Best Friends is a big marketing tool used by the Arbors. Improve the communication and sharing of information regarding the residents between the staff, the shifts and supervisors Would like to see better activities for the higher functioning residents during the day Regulate the temperature It seems that the staff have the ability and the authority to arbitrarily adjust the thermostat often creating an uncomfortably warm condition. Overall the facility and the staff are wonderful. We felt like part of the community (family) right away after arriving Need to find a new survey company if it is true that an unreturned survey counts against the facility, thats just WRONG!!

The direction has great communication with us regarding her needs. The food/menu. Clean linens.. Evenings/weekends need more staff. listening to her needs when doing her transfers.

The best thing you all do is, cater to your residents.. Dietary - the food is horrible. Laundry - you all fade some of the residents clothes.. I love the atmosphere and most of the people that work there. Some of them I don't know b/c you all have a high turnover rate. Try to hire more people who actually love what they do. It takes a special person to work w/ the elderly.

The Director of this facility is the best asset. She responds to any issues promptly and thoroughly.. Response time to resident pushing call button is extremely long. Sometimes over 30 minutes...

CNA's good. Listens to what you say; follow up needs to be a lot better.. Act on suggestions. Nursing staff need to follow thru on to and from hospital. Follow thru on ensuring proper meds are dispensed. Laundry services; does not always get correct clothes - too many missing items. Linens not right size for bed; or towels laid out. Needs more attention to cleanliness of restroom and toilet paper.. On weekends no one to be found.

I live a distance away, and can only visit a few times a year, so I find it difficult to judge many of the questions. However, I have been impressed by the willingness of the staff to accommodate my mother's dietary needs. Furthermore, the nurse and director have gone out of their way to visit my mother when she was in rehab facilities to decide if she was healthy enough to return and how much they could help her. They've also gone out of their way to accommodate her dietary preferences, yet encouraging her to expand her tastes (i.e. not eat the same food at every single meal).. Mother's pharmacist first made the recommendation, but I chose Parkway Gardens because (a) the facility was all on one floor [my stepfather was mostly blind], and (b) the staff seemed willing to work with him. Before my mother could move in, he passed away, but the staff was just as willing to accommodate my mother's needs when she moved in, and have since continued to provide what, from what I hear, is very personalized service.

Kindness of staff Attractive surroundings Nice meals. The quarterly family meals are not worth it. I always wonder how that money could be used in other ways. I'll be very honest and say that I feel guilty not going to the family meals, but my loved one doesn't enjoy it anyway. I wish that you didn't have them. It seems like a hassle for everyone ... staff included. Use that money for something especially for the residents. Or to hire someone to come in and help the CNA's.
