My mom was living here I went to visit her on Mother’s Day and she was dirty, had ants crawling on her and all over her room, her feet were extremely swollen and she seemed confused. I asked them to transport her to the hospital and was told wait until she saw their doctor. That very next morning I called and asked for her to be transported to the hospital and was told the same thing and the nurse said she’d check her meds. I went back about 1 that afternoon to be told in person to wait for their doctor. In the meantime I went back in her room she was still confused and started to have a seizure. The nurses on staff had no idea of what to do. I kept saying turn her in her side and they didn’t listen. The head nurse took over 5 minutes to come and then and only then decided to call 911, 911 told them to turn her in her side and that’s when they decided to do it 10 minutes after her seizure began. I couldn’t turn her by myself I tried as they watched. The paramedics came 20mins after.

We picked this community because, I needed a place that took Medicare when he ran out of money and another family member was there a long time ago and it was good. They can improve on the communication. The food is terrible, they have moved my loved one twice since moving in.

There were almost no residents here during the tour. The community was dark and an older building. They had mannequins sitting on the couches to make it look like residents were sitting there.

Horrible experience, all about money$$$$. All a set up if you dont properly prepare for your loved one.

Father has been at Wellshire over a month and our family has nothing but good reviews. All members of the Staff are compassionate, caring and helpful. Facility is very clean and well appointed. We were very satisfied.

If you’re reading this, you’ve decided it’s time to place a loved one in a facility as caring for them at home is becoming increasingly difficult or a loved one is already in a facility that you’re dissatisfied with. Look no further-this is the place. When caring for my dad at home became nearly impossible and really no longer the best option for either of us, I placed him in a facility and removed him two days later. Details are unnecessary. I brought him home, tried again, then, after a few months, moved him into a brand new place very near my home. It was a beautiful building with beautiful patios and landscaping, gardens and a meditation room. Things went well because I was there every single day bathing him, picking up his room, cleaning his washroom, doing his laundry, etc. I never once walked in and found my dad or his room in a condition which could be reasonably expected. I thought perhaps I was too picky or that this was just how it goes. He was there for 15 months when the pandemic hit and I had no access. Within four months he was hospitalized with an awful overlooked, undiscovered, untreated, very avoidable infection. He required a short nursing home stay post-hospitalization. I rejected a couple of nursing home options and told the hospital social worker that I wanted him in a great place regardless of location. She thankfully sent him to Warren Barr and then two weeks later I decided to move him next door to The Wellshire. I was just really grateful to have found a new facility as returning to the previous one was not an option. But it was terrifying. I had never been inside and my dad was being thrown into a completely new home with unfamiliar people and only limited outdoor family visits due to COVID. I needn’t have worried. He has lived at The Wellshire for the last eight months and he’s never been better cared for or more medically stable. All achieved without the help of family and along with the extra burdens imposed by the pandemic. His hygiene is impeccable. His face is always shaved and his gorgeous white hair is always clean. His white t-shirts are always perfect. They even wash his jackets and blankets. This obvious basic care is not a given at all facilities. The medical staff is always quick to identify and address any health concerns. They have many available doctors or very willingly work with outside doctors and the VA. They have afforded as much visitation as is safely possible. There is a landline in his room which he is usually able to answer or he dials “0” to get the “switchboard girl” (lady at the front desk) who places his call for him. Their efforts have assisted us in maintaining our bond despite physical separation. My dad tells me that he gets very good service! He is treated with dignity and respect. Great attention is given to keep him engaged and social. Every single employee from front desk, nurses, CNAs, and activity staff treat him like family. The Wellshire is 22 miles from my home and I’m happy to drive every single one of them. I have such peace knowing that he’s in such capable hands.
