When meeting with the Director of this facility, we was accepting of sending our father there for his aftercare from an automobile accident. It seemed to our family that he would be getting the care that he needed and attention to his injuries by the Healthcare staff and other employees. The second day he was there proved to us that we made a big mistake and now that he has been there for a couple of weeks we definitely know we did. Pretty much everything we were told was false. We, as a family, have had to make sure that one or more of us are out there with him to make sure we can continue to do his care since the majority of the staff do not. Not only has our father been neglected but we have witnesses first hand that other patients are being neglected as well. Our Dad had a chest tube from a collapsed lung, broken ribs, pelvis broken in several places, and had to have surgery for a rod to be put in his femur from where it was broken in half. His pain medications have not been given to him at the scheduled time since he arrived. Instead of giving him his narcotics that were prescribed, he has been given Advil until we as a family stepped in to make sure he's getting the right medication. His bandages hadn't been changed nor his wounds cleaned for 3 days and finally one of our sisters did it herself after seeing green stain on the one where his chest tube was taken out. This was brought to the staff's attention and they had to be told to write the date on the bandages of when it was changed to make sure they were doing their job. He hadn't had a bath for days and so finally our family had to take over and give him baths ourselves to make sure it got done. His room hadn't been cleaned at all for days so finally, again, we as a family have had to get cleaning supplies and keep his room clean and dusted. When he pushes the call button for assistance it's always ignored up to hours at a time. We as a family have witnessed this not only from our Dad but other patients as well. He has had physical therapy and we try to make sure that someone is there so he is not injured or ignored through his therapy because of his injuries as has happened when we are not there. He had an appointment with the Orthopedic surgeon this morning and he was sent early by the facility to sit by himself to get it over with before the family could get there at the scheduled time even though they were informed and have knowledge that we always attend his appointments because he has dementia. We have already made arrangements for our father to come home and to continue his care at home. He will definitely be leaving this facility on Monday. This facility has been paid a lot of money and our family has been the ones who has had to take care of him the majority of his two week stay. Do not be fooled by the speel you are given to put your family member here. There are some staff members who are definitely trying to do their job but are overwhelmed because the majority of the staff are lazy and are only there to sit around and have conversations instead of doing the jobs they are paid to do.
