Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Will Medicare cover the cost of my stay at Sedgwick Plaza?

Unfortunately, Sedgwick Plaza residents may not use their Medicare coverage to pay for assisted living. Designed for retirees and young adults with disabilities, Medicare finances health care expenses like hospital inpatient care. Because Sedgwick Plaza is a non-medical community (and does not offer skilled nursing care), residents are not permitted to pay with Medicare.

Fortunately, there are other ways for families to finance long-term care. For more information about payment plans, veterans discounts, and other cost-saving options, please use the link above to make an inquiry.

Q: I am a veteran of the United States Armed Forces. How can I pay for Sedgwick Plaza?

While Medicare and many private health insurance plans will not pay for assisted living, individuals who previously served in the military may benefit from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs’ (VA) Aid and Attendance Benefit. Those who are eligible for the Aid and Attendance Benefit may receive a monthly stipend to pay for long-term care, including non-medical assisted living.

The Aid and Attendance benefit is paid in conjunction with a person’s monthly VA pension and Social Security benefits to offset the costs of long-term care. To receive the award, a person must have honorable military service of at least 90 days; at least one day of service must take place during times of war, although recipients are not required to have seen combat, sustained an injury, or left the U.S. for deployment.

Recipients must need assistance with their daily living tasks to receive Aid and Attendance. For more information about the benefit’s specific requirements, veterans should contact their VA caseworker.

Q: Is medication management part of residential care at Sedgwick Plaza?

Yes. Taking medications at the right time is a vital part of staying healthy, but memory impairments can make it challenging to keep up with such a routine. At Sedgwick Plaza, trained staff administers medications in accordance with each individual’s personal needs, typically for assisted living residents.

With enough preparation, long-term care insurance can be an easy, affordable way to pay for senior housing or in-home care. Policies may pay for a wide variety of services and expenses, depending on the insurance provider and the resident’s chosen plan.

For more information about paying with long-term care insurance, families should contact their policy provider. The provider can discuss which assisted living services they cover, and to what extent. I toured Sedgwick Plaza. The girl that gave us a tour was very nice, and the girl at the front desk was wonderful and charming. Overall, when I left, it was depressing, because the carpets need to be cleaned. They're stained and it's hard to navigate in there. You have to go up the elevators and the...

I visited Sedgwick Plaza but I was not impressed with them. The people were nice, but I didn't like the facilities. Their rooms were nice, big, clean, and smelled good. But I wasn't impressed with the entrance, it felt like I was walking into a cafe. I felt uncomfortable when I walked in. The person...

They were more open, honest, and upfront about their pricing. They were friendly. They took me on a...

I toured Sedgwick Plaza. I was very much impressed, but I just can't afford them, that's my problem. I like everything about them. I think that the rooms are ample for me. They're small yet compact. I would describe the staff as very helpful in all things, very pleasant to speak to, and so forth. I ...

They seemed like they knew what they were talking about. When I started talking about the VA stuff, the...

It felt like family from the start. Chrystal, the housekeeping director, showed me around and she was so lovin...
