On March 20, 2019, at this facility, I visited my friend and companion of many years. Concerned about the quality of medical care he was getting,I went to the office to give the manager a form which authorized Hart Heritage to release to me his medical records. After the manager looked at the papers, she telephoned my friend's daughter.(I am her father's best friend but she stopped communicating with me at the time she chose to put him in assisted living instead of letting him go home with care, which is what he wanted.) I was ignored when I told the manager that the daughter's permission was not needed for the release of records.. I took my papers and rejoined my friend in the lobby. Both she and the director followed me, making threats and accusations and demanding my papers. They made a scene, accosting me and my friend, their resident. I did not have to give her my papers and I refused. They continued a long and loud harangue, all in the public rooms. When I tried to continue my visit with my friend, who was visibly distressed, they called the sheriff. A deputy came and also demanded my papers. When I refused, he wrote an order, signed by the director, banning me from visiting my friend for a year. First -This bizarre and extreme behavior by the employees should make anyone question the quality of management of this facility. Second - It is brutally unfair to separate their resident, who is 86 years old, from me his best friend who is 82, increasing his depression over not being able to be at his home, and his isolation and confusion. And they had no right to demand my papers. It appears that they were blindly following the daughter's orders. Third - There is a question of family abuse, including denial of his rights, isolation, and undue influence. Along with this is my question as to whether the staff should have taken notice of his situation and also whether, with this ban, the facility is contributing to the abuse.
