Making it a home like atmosphere! Everyone knows residents by name and always address residents by name. Interested in them and make themselves known to family members and take time to find out how family is doing. Always taking time to help residents when they are struggling to walk, eat or find their room. Dining room staff - Michael B & Rachel knowing them by name & what they like to eat & drink EXCELLENT. Staff Sabrina - Debbie - Lisa & Candy always stopping to talk to them & interested in helping them. EXCELLENT checking to see if they have eaten - will go to activities.. Don't need to concern yourselves about new dining room furniture & get more help with staff & kitchen. - Need more night checks on residents in case they fall & can't reach alarm buttons. The director & head of nursing are always giving help to residents & family and they are excellent in caring & concern! Activity director does a great job considering the variety of interest to be served & what some are able to do.

Excellent staff - top to bottom - friendly + personable Excellent dining room service - prompt + courteous + accommodating, warm + friendly Attentive nursing staff Activities - encouraged + variable mix Management - caring + responsive Thank goodness for the dinging menu! Fresh baked cookies are great + a big plus Generally warm, friendly, family atmosphere. Food seems to be the biggest primary complaint no matter where I've been. Since I'm here only one evening a week, and not necessarily the same day each time, I can only judge my experience on those days. There always seems to be an ever changing room for improvement + I can certainly understand the challenge. If I were there for every meal served my perspective might be different - just my take.

Management is always accessible when needed. Meg is awesome + so is DON @ concerning + joking with residents.. Food + piano - the piano has been broken since we've been there and I have a daughter who will come and play when it's fixed.. Maybe shampoo the carpets in the rooms where you know the resident has an incontinence issue. Check trash cans as I believe my mom threw away her glasses, teeth and phone charger thinking the trash can was storage

Friendly, cooperative staff. Better menu variety, presentation and taste. Some residents need to be moved to a skilled care facility due to severe dementia. Otherwise, it puts staff under more stress and effort to maintain a more pleasant living environment.

Activities. Take prospective employees on a tour to meet some of the residents and let them really see what they are getting into before you let them apply for a job. Weed out the non-caring, weak ones and maybe staff will stay longer.. Figure out why staff is leaving so fast and fix the problem.

Cathy (last name redacted) is great with the residents & makes each one feel welcome. Meg is great at getting people involved & always encourages everyone to attend activities daily. The residents are given opportunity to attend a variety of activities.. Our resident complains about the food, but on every occasion when we have eaten there the food has been good. Would like more contact on the health issues with the resident is possibly a meeting once a year regarding concerns for the resident.

In general, the support employees are very caring for the residents, especially the dining room, cleaning, and laundry personnel. The medical employees are understaffed which is resulting in less than adequate care.. Even if Spencer Place meets the state requirements for staffing numbers, there are not enough employees to adequately care for the residents including health related issues (prescription pills found on the floor of the resident's room) and personal care (one pair of slacks and one pair of socks in weekly laundry-is someone helping the resident with showers? Why so little clothing changes?). Do a better job at following orders from doctors. I'm tired of repeated finding requests from doctors being ignored.. As my resident has aged, she needs more help with person care such as dressing and hygiene. That type of care needs to be improved. Also she has chronic health care needs that are intermittently neglected resulting in extra visits to the doctor. They made a big issue of having to change prescriptions to Pegasus Pharmacy for single dose packaging to insure proper administration. Since then I have found the residents pills on the floor and under her bed. How is single does packaging useful if no one ensures the resident actually consumes the medication?

Sabrina and Andi are great. They make mom happy.. Have diabetic choices. Need to have my sugar count before meals & bedtime more on a schedule.

Meg, Dan and Cathy are great and a stable influence for residents. Activity room could be updated. A house dog and cat would be great for the residents to love on. CJ in dining is a great kid and residents love his caring attitude! . Turnover of nursing/aide staff. Once we get to know someone on staff they move on. Flexibility might make them stay. More exercise equipment would be nice. Ice cream parlor would be nice or coffee break room with music. An outdoor garden would be nice.. We like Spencer Place. Nurses care but turnover is too much where mom says why should I get to know them

Homey facility. Atmosphere and dining room very nice. Activities are well thought out. Activity director is a bonus! Outstanding! Generally, one of the best facilities around, but help is drastically needed, other than recent issues, we find Spencer Place to be outstanding!. Hire an agency to screen and hire competent staff. There should also be a registered nurse on call or duty 24/7. LPN's are not RN's and it is obvious they are not well versed on many medical issues! A qualified staff of personnel is sorely needed here lately. A registered nurse should and must be present! Turnover cannot be avoided, but this is definitely out of hand here. It used to not be that way. Please get Spencer Place back on track!. The dedicated people who work here are wonderful, but they are getting to be less and less present! Residents and family want familiar faces and consistency. Spencer Place no longer has that. It's so sad. Find a way to get qualified people, pay them more, and screen, screen, scree!!

Good communication on mothers issues.. Be more diligent on the resident personal hygiene and oral care. Also to make sure they change clothes and not walking around with food and fecal matter!!

The activities and outings that the residents can participate in are great, and we really appreciate the activities staff.. Better communication between staff as shifts change to make sure care of residents is transitioned properly between different shifts.

Management staff is responsive when contacted about issues.. The transition of a new facility manager was a big upset to the residents. They were very apparently short staffed & many of the new hires came & went quickly. Communication from the evening & day nursing staff was poor. We have seen a marked improvement in the last month in the nursing. Still not in housekeeping.

The staff is very personal with all the resident's and work to get to know them on an individual bases. *Name Removed*, the activity persons does a great job with keeping the residence active and ensures everyone is included with the activities.. There is an odor in the south wing near the Activity room which smells like urine. Don't know the nature of the smell if it's coming from an individual's room or a exactly where it's coming from. Some day's it's gone but other day's it is very strong smell. My loved one is diabetic and requires blood tests to determine the amount of medication to control their blood sugars. We have spoken with the facility about the need for the blood tests to be performed prior to meals, not hours after they had eaten. OR provide medication an hour before they planned to have their meal. I believe the Certified Medical Tech (CMT) needs a course on diabetics to understand the purpose of the timelines of the blood tests and providing medications just prior to meals.

I think Meg does a great job with activities that residents enjoy and provides outings that they all enjoy.. Every year my answer is the food. The appearance is less than appealing more times than not. I was visiting on a weekend and beef stew was being served or at least that's what they were told the grey, disgusting looking glob in the bowl was. It was honestly horrible looking. I know there are guidelines that have to be followed but food can be pleasing to the eye, taste good and still meet requirements. Just because you are serving elderly people they still deserve good meals.. I know many other locations (facilities) have a code that the family is give to let themselves in or out after hours which is great. However, here you either are locked in/out after something is said about safety to the staff and they actually lock the doors or the doors are just always left open. I have stopped by many times after 7:30-8:00 and walked in - no one any where to be found. A system that would work for everyone would be great.
