My mom went to live on the Memory Care side of Mitchell House in May of 2019. She had lost her ability to walk, due to a broken hip in March. My husband and I took care of her for five years prior to her fall. She didn’t have the cognitive ability to do the physical therapy, and had to be in a wheelchair. She was also deaf, and we bought a dry erase board to better communicate with her, and for the staff at Mitchell house also. Most all of the staff, nurses, doctor, and especially the dedicated CNA’S and aides are amazing, caring, funny, and they do their jobs with love and respect. Yes, they are short staffed at times and greatly appreciate the help of the Residents families. I was there every other day, and my sister and other family went on the other days. You get to know the staff and other residents when you are there every other day for almost a year. They are very stringent and strict due to COVID-19, and not one single resident had it when my mom passed away in April from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease. I still want to go back and visit when this pandemic is over. I would highly recommend Mitchell House to anyone. It is also clean, and much better than a previous facility she was at for a month due to an illness. Mitchell House is a beautiful place, inside and out, always cheerfully decorated by residents and staff for all seasons and holidays.
