Went to visit my aunt who has dementia at around 12:45 today. She hadn't been gotten out of bed yet for the day. Her room reaked of urine because she and her bed was soaking wet. Couldn't find assistance for quite a while. She had also not been given breakfast or lunch. What a HORRIBLE way to treat...

Went to visit my aunt who has dementia at around 12:45 today. She hadn't been gotten out of bed yet for the day. Her room reaked of urine because she and her bed was soaking wet. Couldn't find assistance for quite a while. She had also not been given breakfast or lunch. What a HORRIBLE way to treat our elderly loved ones. The facility itself looks very nice but the level of care is unexcusable

Assisted living female now in her pull up for over 15 hours. Food provided twice in past 23 hours only due to phone call to facility alerting them of issue, no liquids provided. Foot doctor comes once every two months and you need to make an appointment. Aides are very good but communication would be helpful as shift changes don't inform what has just occurred with resident. Front desk is very friendly, facility clean and nice. They have a hard time retaining employees - no permanent director since end of 2021 and director of nursing left but never notified. Who to call when you have an issue or concern??

My parents are at The Enclave of Springboro. Their aides are not qualified to care for the type of clientele they bring into their facility. They're not qualified aides; they're not CNAs. They are people they hire off the street. Most of them have attitudes and they don't have the qualifications to care for what the facility says they can do. The rooms are very nice. They're spacious and very nice. The actual environment is very nice. The food is just average. I've had a couple of meals there and it's average. They've got bingo, and they have like parties for the ladies where they serve wine, and they paint their nails. Now and again, they bring in a guitar player/singer and they bring in a disc jockey. They throw a little Halloween party. They've got activities and they try to do those things. There are independent people that live there and there are people that need minimal assistance that live there. I think if you were just an elderly person that wanted company, you don't drive anymore and you want a bus ride to the store, this type of thing, so I think if you were able to care for yourself overall, it would be a very nice place to live because it is a nice environment like you walked in, it looked like a hotel. But the issue is they take in people that have major needs like my parents. I think the public needs to be aware that if you have more than just very minimal assistance, this would not be the place for your loved ones. They're not able to handle more than a little bit of help with a shower or opening up your mail or helping you to pay a bill. They're not able to handle the extensive type of care that a person may need. Everyone wears a pendant, and if they press their pendants, you may wait an hour or an hour and a half. My parents are bedbound and chairbound, so when they put on that light, they may get lucky and someone may be in there in 10 or 15 minutes, but there may not be anyone in there for an hour or an hour and a half. So, when you got to go to the bathroom, that's a problem when you're elderly and you can't wait that long. They never having enough staffing is the biggest issue there. And assisted living facilities are not regulated by the state. Therefore, it's a place that you would go to if you need minimal assistance or no assistance. It's not a place to put your loved one in that if they need actual help. It's more of, 'Oh, I've put my loved one here because I don't want them to be in a house or an apartment by themselves anymore. But Mom can still go to the bathroom, Mom can still be there, and Mom can still pretty much stress herself. I just want Mom there safely.' That's the type of place it is. Like 'Mom will have company with people like her, they can go play bingo or go for an art class, so Mom won't be lonely.' But it's not the place to go to if you have more extensive needs.

We toured The Enclave of Springboro and it had something that no other place had. The eating facilities are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. You can go and eat any time you feel you're ready, without having to be there a certain specific time. We met a very nice lady named Sharon. She was just very, very helpful in every way. The place was very nice. We saw a 1-bedroom and a 2-bedroom. They're nice. I was surprised at how big the bedrooms were. They have a doctor come in every week or so. They also have foot doctor, who comes in once a week or once every two weeks.

My mother-in-law is a current resident of The Enclave of Springboro. The staff was unresponsive to her needs. A man wandering in and out of her room, and instead of trying to fix the situation, they kept saying, well, you just got to lock your door. Well, you know, she forgets and I think they should have done something to make it so it didn't happen anymore, rather than making her feel awful. She was scared to death. She called us up scared to death because this man was threatening her and saying it was his room, not hers, and the staff did not do anything about it at all. She hates the food, but it looks clean, and it's a good-looking facility. They need to improve on food and nursing care. They need to be receptive to the feelings and things going on with their people. Their TV, she shut it off somehow because it didn't work and they just said, "Well, we can't fix it, sorry." She doesn't sit there and watch TV now because she hates it there so much. When you're ín memory care, they don't let you outside unless they have someone with you, and she hated that. She used to love sitting outside and watching the cars go by and everything. She's not a flight risk. She has never tried to escape and she's with it enough to know that, so it was very frustrating for her. They have shared bathrooms, a Jack and Jill bathroom, a room on either side for residence, and a bathroom is shared. My mother-in-law did not like that at all. So she ended up having to buy two rooms to keep her bathroom private.

My in-law is in The Enclave of Springboro. One thing is that it's aesthetically pleasing, and the food is good. She seems very happy there, she said everybody's nice. The staff is very caring and they play games for memory care. They have activities like arts and crafts, and they were making dumplings together when we were there, and then they play games like Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
