Detailed Information

Symphony Square Bala Cynwyd PA

Symphony Square is a senior living community in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania. The community offers assisted living, independent living, and memory care services to older adults throughout the vicinity. In addition to their long-term care programs, the community offers short-term services, including respite care and adult day care.

The community's assisted living apartments are spacious and tastefully decorated, offering premium senior housing amenities like:

  • Private bathrooms
  • Walk-in closets
  • Emergency call systems for residents to request assistance 24-hours a day
  • Kitchenettes with granite counter-tops

Although residents are welcome to prepare their own recipes, the community's dining room offers nutritious, restaurant-style meals daily. Residents from throughout the assisted living facility and Alzheimer's facility come together to enjoy the dining room's communal meals, giving them a chance to bond with one another and create lasting friendships.

The facility's staff are at the heart of their exceptional personal care and Alzheimer's care programs, treating each resident with individual attention, patience, and respect. The staff work with residents one-on-one to better understand their needs, creating a comfortable, nurturing environment for them to enjoy retirement.

The community's personal care and assisted living options are extensive, offering a wide range of support services for people who need help on a day-to-day basis. Long-term care services for independent living and assisted living residents at Symphony Square include:

  • Assistance with their activities of daily living (bathing, eating, dressing, etc.)
  • Medication assistance
  • Incontinence management
  • Housekeeping services

Residents in all housing types are welcome to Symphony Square's senior care services, with special care programs available for people with Alzheimer's disease. Standard assisted living options may not be suitable for people with Alzheimer's disease, making the facility's memory care residence a welcome addition to the retirement community.

As a memory care resident, older adults receive the same amenities as they would in the assisted living apartments. They receive the same personal care services, and they are welcome to all of the retirement community's on-site social activities. However, transitioning to a senior living community like Symphony Square can be challenging for people with Alzheimer's and dementia, and the community's staff go above and beyond to make the process as stress-free as possible for incoming residents. They work closely with the Alzheimer's Association to learn about upcoming treatments for memory loss, Alzheimer's and dementia, and they use their knowledge to create more compassionate care plans for Symphony Square's residents.

To learn more about Symphony Square's services for assisted living residents, their community amenities, or their memory care facilities, prospective residents can tour the grounds in-person. By seeing the community up-close, prospective residents and their family members can see how it compares to other long-term care facilities and memory care facilities in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania. The staff are happy to answer questions about the community's senior care and Alzheimer's care programs, and families may enjoy a complimentary lunch during their tour.

Peggy at 12 Nov 2018:
My mom gets a tremendous amount of care in memory care and gets a lot of personal attention so I think this is a good value. My mom is on a pureed diet and the kitchen staff has been really great in helping with her food. I think the housekeeping has really improved and maintenance has been attentive and responsive.

Gwendolyn at 07 Nov 2018:
Management is fine with me and they seem to have everything under control. They are there for any questions and to get results. I'm completely satisfied with Symphony Square.

Rosalind at 07 Nov 2018:
We liked everything we read and heard about it, we went to four different places and this was our favorite. Management is wonderful and the food is excellent. I like the activities; most of them are interesting and fun. It's beautiful; they keep the downstairs clean and immaculate. The transportation services were really easy, they helped coordinate everything for me so that I knew when to be downstairs and everything and it's the nicest car I've ever been in. The healthcare staff has been wonderful, even people you don't know come up and say hello and ask how you're doing.

Gary at 17 Oct 2018:
I am very pleased with Symphony Square and the services provided to my mother. It's a lovely facility with competent and caring staff. The residents' accommodations are very nice and the culinary services provide a varied, tasty, and well prepared menu. The administrative staff are responsive and the nursing staff are compassionate and attentive. I have rated a 4 instead of a 5 due to the fact that it is costly (but then top notch service and accommodations are not cheap) and they are under a new managing administration. I expect that, in the near future, I will be raising my rating to a 5!

Symphony Square has been a safe, friendly place for my mom. There are many activities to keep her engaged and with the relatively small number of residents, it offers a comfortable community feeling.

Martha at 31 Aug 2018:
At Symphony I believe you get what you pay for. I think the food is very good. They go out to eat and go to shows, they have a lot of entertainment coming in and do a lot of activities together. I think Jonathan does really well with that. I think they do a good job. I think the caregivers have been doing a great job. They love my mother and treat her that way so that's very helpful.

O at 19 Jul 2018:
The management staff seems to be attentive and is consciously aware of what's going on as far as the nursing staff and making sure they're handling the residents properly. The caretakers are good. They're making sure my cousin's coming down to eat and encouraging him. They do well, they take care of him and make sure he gets up and dressed. I think the activities are excellent. They have a schedule and send it out by email so you can stay up to date on what's happening. I've participated in things myself, the sing-alongs and different activities. I feel the food is great.

Helen at 12 Jul 2018:
The caregivers are all very attentive and attend to my mother's needs. She was in the hospital this past January and when she came back they were very attentive to her. They gave her medication on a timely basis, and when she travels everything is packed up and given to her. She is able to go to them to schedule transportation and they are able to accommodate them. We can email them as well to schedule. It's perfect; I can't say enough good things about it. Between medication, food, entertainment, and 24/7 care for residents, I believe that is all a good value. She loves it there.

Marjorie at 09 Jul 2018:
We chose this community for my mom because she liked the coloring, food, decorations and art. It was the only place she was consistently positive about. So far, the management team has been responsive. She loves the food. They have a lot of variety and it is cooked the way she likes it. The fact that they're having her engaged, coming down to meals and getting her meds timely is good. So far, the management team has been responsive. It has been a good experience overall so far.

Harvey at 08 Jun 2018:
I think the price is fair for what he is getting at the community. My dad likes the food. The desserts are very good. They have a fair variety. They have some foods that are made to order. The service is fine. The maintenance staff has been good and the building is in good repair. There is nothing that they have asked for that has not been provided to them. The nursing staff has always been responsive.

Edward at 10 May 2018:
I'm very pleased with the physical therapy here. We went to the steel drum something or other and it was very good. The housekeepers will send the clothes back folded and very neat. The service is very good here.

Gail at 09 Apr 2018:
It is a very comfortable facility. I think they keep the place in very good shape. It is very clean and elegant and comfortable. Whenever I have had to call for things, maintenance staff is there. The guys are always there to help move things. The place never smells, even in the memory unit. The rugs are clean. It is a very bright clean place.

Carrie at 26 Mar 2018:
All nursing homes, if you want a nice one, you're going to pay a good amount of money. My aunt's paying a good amount to stay here, but you pay for what you get, and it's very good. Anyone that takes as good care of her as they do is priceless to me. If I ever need the caregivers, I go outside her room and flag someone down, they come right away. I always see the staff cleaning and disinfecting, it's wonderful. Every time I've been there, everything has been clean. The laundry is done well and on time, clean clothes are always put away nicely in her closet. If she messes them up they go back later and clean it up for her. They have plenty of activities, and activities for Memory Care residents.
