The nurses and most of the staff are very sweet and caring. Our activities coordinator, KC was fantastic! She has now left and gone to another residence. I adore Eric and Suzanne. They are fantastic nurses. They have contacted me right away when my mom was sick or had a bad fall.. My main concern is that my mom is very independent and does not always get assistance because the PCA's feel that she doesn't need help. She has fallen a couple of times in the evening getting into her pajamas. She stays up later than all the other residents. I would like her to have assistance getting ready for bed in the evening. Also, any new hires need to be informed of SOP if there is an emergency. When my mom had her fall, those on duty that evening didn't even contact the paramedics right away until I got there. They also did not have her medical info readily available. Also, I feel that there needs to be better communication with the DON or the Director when a resident passes away. My mom has been a long time resident, and we are not informed when one of her friend's has died. It can be done quietly in an email to the families. There have been many times where Ive wanted to send flowers to the family, but didn't get the information for a week or so after their passing. We should also be informed when someone quite or leaves the residence. This is hard on families and we need to be given that information to be prepared. Especially when the nurses, activities coordinator, etc. have been with us for over a year.
