The nurses and most of the staff are very sweet and caring. Our activities coordinator, KC was fantastic! She has now left and gone to another residence. I adore Eric and Suzanne. They are fantastic nurses. They have contacted me right away when my mom was sick or had a bad fall.. My main concern is that my mom is very independent and does not always get assistance because the PCA's feel that she doesn't need help. She has fallen a couple of times in the evening getting into her pajamas. She stays up later than all the other residents. I would like her to have assistance getting ready for bed in the evening. Also, any new hires need to be informed of SOP if there is an emergency. When my mom had her fall, those on duty that evening didn't even contact the paramedics right away until I got there. They also did not have her medical info readily available. Also, I feel that there needs to be better communication with the DON or the Director when a resident passes away. My mom has been a long time resident, and we are not informed when one of her friend's has died. It can be done quietly in an email to the families. There have been many times where Ive wanted to send flowers to the family, but didn't get the information for a week or so after their passing. We should also be informed when someone quite or leaves the residence. This is hard on families and we need to be given that information to be prepared. Especially when the nurses, activities coordinator, etc. have been with us for over a year.

Nurse Ashley Campbell is wonderful. So is Audra Sexton who is the activities director. I also think Keesha and Jennifer are wonderful caretakers. Overall, the attention and care of the nurses and caretakers are what keep me mom there.. My mom's personal items and bedding are always missing. She always has someone else's bedding on her bed. Her bathroom is dirty and there is no soap for her to use to wash her hands. There have been several times when there hasn't been any toilet paper either. I have complained about the lack of cleanliness for at least 6 months.. My mom doesn't have any teeth, and she is continually given the same food that other residents can eat that have teeth. There have been many times when Ive brought food in for her since she cannot chew meat, chicken, beans, etc. On a couple of occasions she has been given chili (too spicy and cant chew), pork chop, chopped BBQ, etc. I have requested soft mechanical since that was the doctors orders when I put here at The Arbors. The biggest problem there is lack of routine with cleaning the rooms, lack of activities, and food not being made for the residents that have special diets. The Arbors is $2500 more than what I paid for at a previous residence. I don't feel that its justified . Especially when my mom is not being catered to for her dietary needs.

*Name Removed* is a wonderful Administrator. Great with communication and resolving problems very quickly. K.C. is our new Activities Director and she is very creative in keeping the residents busy. She is sweet and compassionate.. We need more seating in the living room area. The Arbors is now very sparse in its furnishings. It was very cozy and homey when I first moved my mom there. Artwork has been removed, theres no longer an armoire. Also, the foot rests for my moms wheelchair is missing. Too much turn over with PCA's. They all need to wear name tags.

Executive director, Kimily Taylor provided secure environment. She personally knew my mothers medical needs, likes and dislikes and temperament. She is greatly missed. The family are apprehensive about the future direction of Schilling Gardens without Kimily at it's head. Excellent kitchen management and staff! Excellent nursing management by Tracey Santos. Cleanliness at facility. The facility is nearly 7 years old and shows it's age in the neatness of the building exterior, the limitations of the kitchen, the clutter behind cabinet doors in the dining room & family kitchen. Poor transition between executive directors. Taking for granted, residents and their families during transitions. Prove building is from from black mold, and that humidity is under control!. Clean refrigerator in the family kitchen. The pine straw on the mulched flower beds is original, plus 6 years old! Building exterior & interior looks shabby.
