I did a tour of Willow Brooke Point Senior Living. I like the layout of the place. I also like the fact that you can go outside from the dining room, and they have a place to sit there for five months of the year. The person we worked with was very friendly and very helpful. The rooms are I would say, independent living. We have 6400 square feet now, so it would be a downsize for us. You have a living room and a kitchen connected. We looked at the one-bedroom for my wife and I because I don't think we can afford the two-bedroom; the cost is pretty steep. From what a few people have told me, if you get somebody to come into your home for assisted living, it would be a lot more expensive than going to assisted living. Because they have to stay 24 hours a day.
I like the fact that, there you can still come and go as you like. Another big factor is you don't have to be vaccinated. The vaccination has been a waste of our money and time. In my opinion, I would never go to a place where you have to be vaccinated to get in. The dining area is very nice.
I think they were doing mostly stretches, and a lot of residents were walking. Some were just sitting around. I don't think they have a recreational room, that would be the negative of it. There's no recreational room and no recreation.
We loved the grounds. We loved the size of the windows because they go down low enough that you can sit there. They have a huge pond where you can have a view. You're not sitting someplace where you can't see out. I guess that's the big part that we like better with them. I just noticed that they were quite a bit lower. I did not set a chair down to see if I could still see out properly or not.
They have a nice sitting area and a nice fireplace. They also had a place at the room we looked at. I don't know if it was next door, where it just had a smaller sitting room. You could get 10 people in there, but they'd be crowded. It's the place where you can go because sometimes if you go from a from a home to independent living, you may feel a little cramped. You can get out and go just next door. You can walk over and sit there. When you first come in, they have a place where residents sit, fellowship, and visit. They even have a place where you can watch the birds if you want to.
As a whole, I think it would be it would be a good place. I think people would like it there. I would rate them a four because of some things that they do not have. One thing that another facility has that they did not have is a room where there was a spa. Their location is just on the edge of town, so it's more like you're in the country.
My wife moved into Willow Brooke. The facility is excellent and well staffed. The food is bad though. So far, we're pleased with the place. My wife is in a suite room. The suite has its own bathroom and kitchenette. They have bingo. They had live music yesterday.

Willow Brooke Point Senior Living had some nice folks and it's a nice place. I went there a couple of years ago and had lunch with someone from the company, and the food was excellent. The staff were very informative, concerned, and have all the good attributes you could think of. One particular room that I saw was pretty nice because it looked out over a little pond. They had a good dining area as well and it was just very clean. It's a place where I would move if I had to.

The staff at Willow Brooke Point Senior Living are just medicating my dad, and they continuously fight with my mom. She said she signed up for hospice care and she never signed in papers that he was supposed to go to hospice care. The food is average. I sent food to him that improved mental cognition, and they took it all away and threw it out. If I send anything there like nuts or popcorn they say that he coughed on it and throw it out. It's horrible. The food seems to be very, very plain, and there are a lot of complaints about it. They seem to have WiFi or some type of internet connection. They have a little kitchenette so my mom can make her own meals and heat stuff up. My mom says they don't do any physical therapy, which is something they have in their brochure, that they do physical therapy, but they don't do anything. We're paying $5,500 a month for my dad and they're giving him almost no treatment at all. One of the nurses came up and my mom asked if they could help her get to church, because she was having problems with her wheelchair. The nurse said that she's not paying for that care.

I was really not impressed with Willow Brooke. The part that bothered me and my brother could end up in the independent living section, is that a lot of the meals are served in the assisted living section in the main dining room. And the residents have to walk from the independent living building to the assisted living building. And in the dead of winter, these people are gonna have to dress up in winter attire, walk from one building to the other to go eat. I just don't feel comfortable with that at all. I saw both assisted living and independent living. The staff who gave the tour was very pleasant. I got the price of over $3500 over the phone and when I got there they said that there are going to be some separate add ons and it's going to be $4,000 a month. There's a big difference between $3500 and $4000, so I was kind of upset with the price difference, because had she said upfront that it's going to be $4000 I wouldn't have even considered it because it's way out the ballpark. The room sizes were terribly small. There were no 1-bedrooms available, just a studio. And by the time you get a dresser, a twin bed, a chair, and a TV stand in there, you're full. The other thing is that there's no PA or nurse on-duty, they only come every Tuesday. For that kind of money, I would have expected them to have a PA or a nurse on staff. The layout leaves a lot to be desired. There was a session outside, where the residents were allowed to see ducks and there was duck poop all over the cement. And these people are dragging it inside on their feet. When you get to the assisted living, I don't think it's clean because they're allowed to see the ducks.
