My mother died in their respiratory rehabilitative care. She went there to be able to get strong enough to go home. It was the only place close to family and her home at the time. We stupidly believed the arrogant pulmonary physician in charge of the respiratory care program. He flat out lied to us about the facilities and HIS ability to properly care for her. The nurses and staff were not properly trained in respiratory care! They did not provide the proper respiratory equipment sufficient enough to support her needs. On my visits I noticed the call button response was very delayed or went unanswered on a regular basis. We could constantly hear the alarms beeping since the room was just outside the nurses station. I had to call long distance to the centers general number to to get someone there to help my mom in a dire emergency situation, they had not responded to her call light! Proving they were short staffed. When someone is fighting to life with every breath, that call light should be answered quickly and the expectation is that someone better be checking in on the patient around the clock 24/7. Check with the state before you decission.
