Great place to go for rehabilitation. The staff are the best. It''s the best rehabilitation center I''ve ever been in. I''ve been in some of the other rehab places and Emerald Coast is by far the best.

My loved one received such poor care, especially at his time of discharge, and we were lied to by staff in such a way that I felt it necessary not only to leave a poor review, but to make formal complaints to state oversight agencies. The facility is understaffed leaving patients to receive irregular check-ins and long delays when calling for assistance. Understaffing is a problem lots of places right now, of course, and for the most part the nurses were kind and compassionate. However, when my loved one was discharged, his hygiene was so badly neglected, it took three baths to remove all the dead skin and make him feel clean again. The terrible failure of this facility is with its permanent non-nursing staff. There is something deeply concerning about their practices. More than one employee at this facility, including the Director of Social Services and the Director of Nursing, knowingly lied to us about several things. First, to our request that they initiate a peer-to-peer review with the insurance company, second, when asked why, if his physical and speech therapists stated verbally he was making progress, it was recorded officially that he was not, and lastly, and most dangerously, the Director of Social Services lied about when home care following his discharge would begin. She knowingly discharged a man who needed round the clock care to a home where she also knew the primary caretaker could be gone for up to 10 hours a day. When asked twice about when home care would begin, she assured me and my spouse that it would begin the following day. Home care did not begin until five days after his discharge, and I was told by the home care contact that he informed the Director of Social Services about the delay, in fact he said it "must have been a nurse on duty" who told me that because he spoke with her directly. Thankfully, we could stay in town to make sure my loved one got the care he needed, but if this is standard procedure for them, then I am sadden to imagine it has been the cause of any number of deaths. I hope this facility will be fully investigated to make sure everyone housed there gets the care they need and deserve.

My mother was a patient at Emerald Shores twice in December 2020. During her last visit which last 4 days she was sent out by staff after being found in the morning "down".
