The pandemic has caused additional concerns for staff, residents, and visitors. From my observation all three groups are working together. It is not without incidents, but they have been addressed rapidly. As a visitor it was not excited that we could not visit face to face. I did and continue to understand that you are doing the best for all concerned. In this opening up of scheduled visitation, I believe you are handling this excellently. I have been able to get in with a few days notice. You provide outdoor locations that I know my cousin greatly appreciates. On my 3 visits so far we have been so happy that Jenna was the staff member present. She has added to conversation and humor. Jenna has made the experience even more pleasant. Glad my cousin is at Perry Lutheran Home, Willis Campus. The entire staff has been great!

Finding a home for a senior loved one is never an easy choice. It certainly wasn’t for us! When a fall and surgery dictated a move out of assisted living and into a long-term facility, we had some agonizing conversations about where that facility should be. While Dad was in rehabilitative care at Perry Lutheran Home, we gave consideration to a different facility for reasons involving other family. As we navigated the rehabilitation process, we were more and more impressed with the care he was given at Perry Lutheran Home and the way in which he “fit” into their way of doing things. In short, he was very well cared for, and he was completely happy there! So, we decided that making a move was not in his best interests. What we didn’t know was what was around the corner for us! As the threat of the virus became apparent, we prayed that PLH would take the necessary steps to keep Dad and the other residents safe. With all the horror stories about other facilities having so many cases of the virus, we were so grateful that whatever PLH was doing has worked. Their residents have been kept safe! The staff at PLH has been so caring and willing to accommodate our needs. We continue to place our trust in their “process” and take comfort in knowing that Dad is in the best place he could possibly be!

The care conference team warmly responded to my concerns regarding my friend Kathy: participation in activities, was she eating well, was she active in walking and socializing with other staff and residents. I was happy to hear Essie cleaned her sofa and chair and Kathy has enough clothes. It was a good, welcoming meeting! Most of all, I scheduled a visit with Kathy today and was very happy with her smile, and easy conversation. This was evidence of the care that she was receiving: love, nurturing, and relationships of the staff. Thank you for letting me be with Kathy and so quickly after the conference meeting. I have always felt Kathy has received excellent care, from the staff always responding to personal hygiene, encouraging her to participate in activities, helping her dress, and assisting me with Kathy’s stuff in her walker. I have always been greeted on the unit with a smile and the staffs willingness to answer any questions regarding her care. Her room is always clean and tidy, as is her clothing. I have confidence that she is well taken care when we are not able to see her. I am thankful for all of you. Nancy
