If I could give this place a zero or less, that is what it should actually be. Horrible place, people at the front desk are ignorant, beyond rude and could care less about the people staying there or concerns brought to them from the family. The family was allowed to go and look into the doorway but not go into the room per the rude person at the front desk. We went into the room anyway, it looked like a storage room, extra beds shoved on the other side with boxes on top of the beds. That is not what I last memory of my loved one to be, shoved into a storage room. The next day we received a call from the administrator should be fired. How can someone who is supposed a caring person tell a family they will never see their sister alive again, we never did either. She passed away the day after the administrator so lovingly told us that. I realize these facilities cost a lot but, this facility needs to examined about their practices and with the way the patients are treated should be there for free or better yet - shut down.

My dad has been there for 1 yr. The staff over all are respectful and caring to him and that matters to me the most. Some times the care could use some common sense but they work with me. CoVid has been tough on all and I think every place could use some creative thinking on how to better manage that. But I understand the responsibility makes things very complicated. While this place is not perfect my dad likes the people and feels good about his care over all. I would recommend GVCC.

My mother was at Garden View after a fall and breaking her pelvis. I think the therapists she worked with had her best interest at heart, and some of the staff truly cared about her, I don’t believe she received the care she should have. The women that work in the lobby/reception area are truly some of the most rude, defensive, and confrontational people I have ever run across. The care team/administration either does not communicate with them, or they have disregard what families are being told. Their COVID restriction is that families are allowed two 30 minute, scheduled, visits per week. The care team had told me that we could have outside visits for as long and often as we like… the people in the front acted as if this was the first they heard of it (keep in mind my mother, and all of the family are fully vaccinated). On each visit she was wearing clothes that don’t belong to her and on several successive visits, was wearing the same clothes that were dirty. When I asked about it, I was met with defensive and passive-aggressive attitudes. We were not allowed to visit her room. As far as personal hygiene.. at times her face looked as if it had not been washed, food was stuck in her teeth and food stains were on her clothes. Even while in the hospital, she did not look like this. In a nutshell, do you due diligence before admitting a loved one to this facility. Inquire to other care facilities and talk to social workers at the hospital. I will forever be kicking myself for allowing my mother to stay here for 2 1/2 months for “rehab”. After moving her to another facility and speaking with the nurse, we are getting her additional PT and OT and I have no doubt we will see her improve.
