Do not go here!!!!! Avoid at all costs!! You will never be put in touch with the right person. Ever!! I went to the ER back in August 2021 with abdominal pain. The doctor immediately told me there was no ultrasound tech on duty. She told me to drive to Mission Hospital in Asheville and she gave me a piece of paper to give Mission when I arrived. I was at this ER for less than 10 minutes due to my case being an emergency. My spouse drove me to Asheville & Mission took me right in and I had an emergency surgery for an ovarian torsion at 1am. Then, out of the blue I got a bill from Transylvania hospital for $350 for my ER copay. What the heck? I wasn’t even there for 10 minutes and they didn’t have the staff to help me??? I’d already paid my $350 copay to Mission Hospital along with my coinsurance payments for the OR, docs, scans and the like. Over the next 5 months, I proactively called Transylvania hospital asking to speak with someone about this bill. Every time, a nice person told me they were reviewing this and it was in my chart. Finally after 5-6 calls with no help, I stopped calling. Then today, EIGHT months after this ordeal ———when I’d called them constantly, they've started trying to collect this copay again. I’m at a total loss. I have perfect credit and have never had a late payment in my life. This hospital’s back end administrative system is simply terrible. Avoid at all costs.

I had a relative stay here and it was an absolutely HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE...would NOT take a dog here. UGGGH. Unprofessional nurses and the facility is outdated. Go to Mission where nurses know what they are doing!

I had an experience at Transylvania Hospital like three weeks ago that has left me with nightmares and I think it's left me with PTSD. I went to the ER for severe kidney pain due to my kidney disease. I'm pregnant so I'm running out of room for my large kidneys and it hurts. A lot. I had my boyfriend drop me off because I didn't want the kids to see me in that much pain. I was crying from the pain by time I got into triage and I NEVER cry from pain. Ever. Not thru childbirth, nothing. It's probably the worst pain I've ever been in. The doctor comes in and I can't even talk and I'm shaking. He starts asking me questions and gets frustrated that I can't stop crying. He says " look, I know you're emotional, but I need some answers from you". I'm not emotional, I'm hurting. I've never in my life ever felt so scared. Ever. I went there to be safe, to feel safe, to not hurt and I was treated like absolute ****. They make me do a catheter. I offer to get up and pee and they said no. They used the catheter once and took it out. There was blood everywhere. Doctor comes in and says in some smugvoice "yeah, there's not even an infection." I said that's NOT WHAT IT IS. My kidneys hurt from the cysts. He acts like I'm full of **** and walks out. At one point, I had to pee and held it for two hours. I called for help. I had to take all my monitors off myself and walk to the bathroom. NO ONE was at the nurse's station or in the hallway. No one. I snuck my own Tylenol into the bathroom and took it. Chewed it up. It did nothing. My monitor alarm dinged because I took it off. They showed up when I got back to my room. They came because they thought I left. But they wouldn't come when I was going to have a stroke? I stay there for 7 hours waiting for an ambulance to take me Mission for treatment. I was never given ANY pain meds. Or anything to drink. At all. I was in so much pain my ears were ringing and my blood pressure was 190/115. My alarm on the monitor went off loudly, constantly. NO ONE EVER CHECKED ON ME. Seven hours. I sobbed for seven fucking hours and rocked back and forth because I didn't know what to do with myself. I was terrified I was going to have a stroke from the pain and no one even checked on me. My BPM was 160 when the ambulance showed up. They walk in to put me on the stretcher and I'm not even in my body anymore. I couldn't form a complete sentence. The EMT said have they not given you anything this entire time?!?!? I said no. As soon as I got in the ambulance they IVed some morphine. The EMT said "I'm supposed to wait for that doctor to okay the morphine before I give it to you but I'm not waiting, this is ridiculous.' I was in so much pain, I didn't even care if I died at that point. I could have had a stroke at Transylvania Hospital, alone in a room, none of the nurses or doctors would have given a single ****. I could have stroked out and my baby die. All that and I'm pregnant. I'm terrified of ever being treated like that again. I'm so confused how this happened. And why. I'm so thankful the EMTs gave a **** or I don't know what would have happened.
