My sister was in heritage for rehab after hip surgery. They would not come when she pushed the button, told her to wet herself that they would change her when they had time. They where always short staffed, the food was awful, & they didn''t really care about the patient. Not a good place at all.

When you are faced with decisions in life about what to do for a loved one in failing health, we knew there was only one special place for Dad, The Heritage. Dad had 4 kinds of dementia and was unable to walk, and over time, through the progression of his disease, he lost the ability to do things for himself. But he always had a smile and something funny to say, he loved to hold your hand and he loved the ''family'' he spent time with every day. When it came time to find a facility to give Dad the care he needed, they welcomed us with open arms. I visited at all different times of the day and evening and his care was exceptional. The staff was amazing, keeping us informed of changes along way and helping in any way they could. My Dad was so lucky to be loved and cared for by everyone there. I spent time with Dad almost every day, but when I couldn''t be there, I could call and get a report from his nurse any time day or night. It didn''t take long for the staff to become our family also. It didn''t matter if you were there to clean and mop the floors, if you came by just to say hello, if you changed him, if you worked in the kitchen or fed him a meal, if you were giving him his meds, or giving him a haircut or a shower, he always said ''thank you'' and told them he loved them. And he meant it, too. Everyone was polite and respectful and helpful. He had a great roommate and we are so appreciative of how they placed these two men together and for the friendship they shared every day. Even with his limitations, Dad always found something to be thankful for, and he always had a smile and a twinkle in his blue eyes. We knew Dad had a progressive disease and was in failing health, and that there would come a day when he wouldn''t be with us any longer. And when I got the call that things were beginning to change for him early on a Sunday morning, we found nothing but love and support for Dad and for ourselves from all of the staff. Dad passed away on Feb 7, 2022, and he knew we were with him, and he knew he was surrounded by people who loved him. These were his friends and family and he loved each one of them. Dad passed peacefully and was surrounded with love. The support we received throughout his stay these past months, and especially those last few days, was very humbling. You know when people love their jobs, and you have to have a special heart to work in a long term care facility, and we know they loved our Dad, and us as well. We can''t say thank you enough to everyone at The Heritage.

Don’t take your loved ones here. My mom was treated like a dog. She was there to get rehab. She may still have been here if I had just kept her at home. I hope the people that treated her mean have the same Experience in there last days on earth.
