Today was a good day!! Paul the nurse was amazing. I have been trying to get a bed sore seen about on my mother in-law for 3 days the other nurses couldn’t be bothered with it on the other shifts. Paul was quick to treat it took pictures and treated her with sweetness and dignity!!

If I could give this place a negative rating, I would most certainly do so. While the staff seems to be caring, the place is extremely understaffed. They work 12-hour shifts and only have 2 RNs, 2 LPNs, and around 8 CNAs to cover 60 -70 residents, which means 1 RN, 1 LPN, and 4 CNAs per shift (this I verified with an employee of one of the Touchstone Communities). Note, that some of the residents are bedridden, requiring more time and care than other self-sufficient residents. The staffing situation is unfortunate, as ultimately it is our elderly population that suffers the ramifications of this. To make matters worse, I''ve walked in to find my family member with food all over their bed and floor, food from the previous evening''s meal, not to mention bugs crawling on several places on their body. Breakfast had been served around 8 AM and the breakfast tray had been removed by the time I arrived, at 11:21. This means that an employee dropped off and picked up the breakfeast tray and did not pay any attention to the mess of food from the previous evening''s meal laying all over the floor and bed, or the fact that there were bugs crawling on my family member. I understand being busy and understaffed to a certain degree, but supper is served between 5:30 and 6:00 PM daily, which means that my relative sat from that time, the day before, until I arrived the following day, at 11:21 AM, in that mess of food and bugs. UNACCEPTABLE! This also makes me question how often they are being looked in upon and whether or not the staff simply see a body in a bed rather than a human being who deserves to live out the elder stages of life with dignity and respect. Needless to say, this was not the first time that I have found something similar, food all over the bed and floor and my family member, who is bedridden sitting there in the mess for hours! Also, note that my family member has been bedridden since day one of entering this facility (March of 2022) and they only had a standard mattress rather than a pressure-sensitive mattress (which helps prevent pressure sores, bed sores, et cetera). It wasn''t until I was made aware of this fact, in July 2022, that I questioned the physician as to why my family member did not have a specialized mattress. Within one week''s time, my family member had a specialized mattress. A gross oversight of the physicians who make routine visits to the residents of this facility. This, of course, was too late as my family member already had pressure sores on their feet and ankles, as well as of this date, 25 August 2022, stage four bed sores. All the while, the Administrator trying to come up with a song and dance trying to justify why this might have happened. Absolutely shameful. The Touchstone community employee that I mentioned above, who gave me a rundown of the staffing situation, also mentioned upon me questioning why they were so understaffed, said it is due to the fact that the organization doesn''t want to pay out the money to get more employees in / pay is so poor that it''s not worth someone''s while to take on such challenging employment. I am not against a company making a reasonable profit however when that gaining of profit endangers an elderly individual''s life, I find myself sickened to the core. Elder lives matter and our elderly individuals deserve better than this horrific treatment. My family member is at high risk of getting osteomyelitis (a bone Infection caused by bacteria that forms in the open wounds of bed sores, pressure sores, and decubitus ulcers). All of this could have been avoided had he received proper care in this facility. This is a profit before people company and I urge anyone who loves and cares about their elderly family members (especially those who cannot advocate for themselves) to look elsewhere and stay away from any Touchstone Community ''properties'' (in this case The Heights of Bulverde).

I''m trying to set a rehab stay, for 3 weeks, at this Heights nursing home, in Spring Branch Texas, and the lady hangs up on me, and keep''s saying to me, on the phone, when i call them, and keeps saying to me, who are you, and, are I''m trying to do, is give this lady some information, that I''m going to have surgery, on October 6th 2022 and the lady, that makes the surgery schedule, on prostate surgery, needed to know, after surgery, what facility, they need to send me too, after surgery, at the hospital in San Antonio, and the lady, that works at this facility, at the Heights nursing home in Spring Branch, is very rude, so I''m going to Kirkwood Manor, in New Braunfels Texas, for 3 weeks rehab recovery, this place sucks, it''s know good, for rehab recovery, because i ask the rude lady, that, if they except Humana Gold Plus, health insurance, i have, and this rude lady, just hang''s up on me, this lady, needs to be fired, from this facility in Heights nursing home, in Spring Branch, she''s very rude to people, that are trying to get rehab, after surgery.
