To say that my experience there was unpleasant was an understatement. My mother was admitted there early monday morning on Memorial Day, she had a massive stroke and brain hemorrhage. My stepfather was there with her the entire day, and the whole day they were trying to convince him to just let her pass away because there was nothing that they could do. We were told that there was no way to operate or perform surgery, and that the brain damage was too extensive to have any chance of survival. So, she was left there in a hospital bed without water or any kind of nourishment via i.v. , ( except for a massive quantity of drugs) for the entire day and was basically left to die. They did not even put her name on her chart on the wall. Just left it blank...We were given an ultimatum of telling them what we wanted to do very hurriedly on how to proceed going forward. One of the doctors on staff had even come in and asked my mother to squeeze her hand twice.. Which my mother did... She informed us that it wasnt her responding, it was just brain reflex....REFLEX!!!!! We opted not to listen to the diagnosis given by the doctors at Augusta Health, and decided transport her to UVA. We are now on day 7 and she is alive and responding to stimulation she has been taken care of very thoughtfully by the UVA staff and we have been given the utmost respect for our decision to try and maintain her life. I am very disappointed with the care that my mother was given at Augusta Health and that was the last straw for me. I will never recommend that hospital to anyone for the rest of my life. I would rather drive 600 miles to another hospital before I even step foot in there again. That''s my review! ***Update**** I was contacted by Lori with Augusta Health Patient Experience Team and after the team of hers looked up "the facts" she informed me that they decided they had done nothing wrong... Of course you''re going to blame shift. That''s the corporate way.... I still will never recommend the hospital TO ANYONE EVER...Just so you know, my mother said her name today 6/12. If we had done what your hospital advised us on Memorial Day, she wouldn''t be saying anything right now. She would be dead.. Thanks for nothing Augusta Health. Nations top 100 hospital my rear end!!!! Never Again!!!
